URGENT: Delara to be executed- No Pardon!

  • In an open letter, the family of the victim blamed Delara Darabi for the murder of their mother and asked for the execution verdict of Delara to be implemented.

    In their letter they blamed their decision on Delara, her family, lawyer, media and human rights activists for over-sensitization, misrepresentation and not confessing to Delara’s guilt and stated that the decision and the ruling of the Islamic Judges were based on just Sharia laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran and must be implemented.     Stop Child Executions has always strongly denounced all murders of victims and has shown utmost sympathy for the losses of the families. In the case of Delara Darabi SCE has also continually insisted on the following: 

    1- Iran is a state party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which prohibit the use of the death penalty against people convicted of crimes committed when they were under 18. Delara Darabi was 17 at the time of the alleged murder.

    2- Reenactment of the murder scene as the murder seem to have been by a rights handed strong person while Delara Darabi is left handed. 

    3- A fair trail according to internationally agreed judicial standards.

    We ask the head of Iran’s judiciary Ayatollah Shahrudi to immediately halt the order of execution of Delara Darabi and order a retrial.

    We also ask United Nations Human Rights Commission and other country leaders to immediately contact Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader and Ayatollah Shahrudi, head of Iran’s Judiciary and other high officials of the Islamic Republic and strongly demand an immediate stay of execution.

    We also ask the major international media to broadcast the news of imminent and unjust execution of Delara Darabi.
     
    These are last living hours of Delara Darabi. Please do everything you can to save Delara from being hanged:

    Amnesty International was able to schedule a demonstration in front of the Iranian Embassy in London at 9:00 am Monday morning. Although this may be after the scheduled execution time but sometimes executions are delayed last minute and also Iranian officials are already aware of such demonstration.
